WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GATEWAY'S HAUNTED PLAYHOUSE AND THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER OF SUFFOLK COUNTY?
The Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County aka The Gateway, is a 501c3 non-profit performing arts center. The Gateway has been producing and presenting Broadway plays and musicals in Bellport since 1950. The Gateway has since become one of the most prominent regional theaters in the United States. We also have a School for the performing arts, and a set rental division. In October 2009, Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse was launched and quickly grew in popularity. Our theatrical roots and extensive connections in the entertainment industry enabled our haunted house to achieve high honors and win many top haunted house awards. WHAT AGE IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE HAUNTED HOUSE?
Due to the scary themes and graphic nature of our haunted house, we do not recommend bringing anyone under the age of 12 to our haunted house. An adult must accompany anyone younger than 12. We offer a Not So Scary Kids Adventure on select Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4pm which is an excellent time for families!

WILL I BE TOUCHED IN THE HAUNTED HOUSE?
No. No actor will try to touch you. Any touching that occurs would be accidental and due to dark conditions and small spaces or the people in your group trying to escape the terror.


ARE YOU OPEN IN RAIN OR SNOWY CONDITIONS?
Yes. We are open in all weather conditions, but be aware that this is an outdoor and indoor attraction. Please wear appropriate footwear/outerwear for these conditions. Umbrellas are not permitted inside the haunted house.


IF THERE IS A WEATHER-RELATED CLOSING, WILL I GET A REFUND?
No, we do not offer refunds. If there is a weather-related closing, your ticket will be honored on another on another operating day during the season. Please call the Box Office at 631-286-1133 to arrange.


CAN WE TAKE PHOTOS INSIDE THE HAUNTED HOUSE?
Photography of any kind is not permitted inside the haunted house. We do encourage you to take photos before and after in our Midway. Don’t forget to tag us - on Facebook and Instagram @HauntedPlayhouse


DO YOU SELL SOUVENIRS?
We will be selling T-Shirts, Monster Protection Amulets, and more in our Boo-tique, located in our midway


DOES YOUR ATTRACTION HAVE SECURITY?
All patrons will be asked to pass through metal detectors when they arrive. We have a full security staff on hand at all times who have undergone training to keep you safe (even when it feels a little scary). All security staff are in communication via radios and we have infrared cameras placed throughout so we can see you even when you can’t see us. Please note: NO LIGHTERS, MATCHES, EXPLOSIVES, OR FLAMMABLES; NO WEAPONS, KNIVES, OR SHARP OBJECTS OF ANY KIND; and NO BACKPACKS OR LARGE BAGS will be permitted.


ARE YOU WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
Due to the twists and turns and several sets of stairs, the walk-through itself is not handicap accessible. Everyone has access to our Midway area. The bathrooms are also handicap accessible.


DO THE LINES GET REALLY LONG?
For general admission tickets, you are given a line entrance number as you pass through our entrance. Instead of waiting on one giant line, we encourage you to enjoy our Midway area until your ticket number is called. Don’t want to wait at all? – a limited amount of Fast Pass tickets are available,


WHAT IS THE MIDWAY?
Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse features a nightmare carnival - called our Midway - every haunt night with food, drinks, and attractions. The Midway is our queuing area, so you can sit down with a snack instead of having to waiting on a  line.


IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?
There is free parking onsite for Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse and for the Not So Scary Kids Adventure. Please follow the parking attendant’s directions.


IS THERE A PLACE TO PUT MY BAG OR OTHER PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Please leave all belongings in your car or at home. We do not have lockers and assume no responsibility for lost or damaged items being carried by patrons or left in vehicles. Additionally, make sure that your cell phone and personal items being carried are safely tucked away and stored.


CAN I GET A REFUND IF I DECIDE I AM TOO SCARED OR DO NOT MAKE IT THROUGH THE END?
THERE ARE NO REFUNDS! ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!


WILL THERE BE THINGS TO EAT OR DRINK AT THE EVENTS?
Our “Spirit Bar” is open every night in our Midway, and offers beers on top, and a selection of bottled beer and wine for guests 21 and older. We also serve soft drinks and snacks. Billie Jean’s Grill food truck is present on select nights, with a menu featuring Billie Burgers, Chicken Fingers, Hot Dogs, French Fries, Roasted Corn, Hot Pretzels. Pumpkin Cannolis, Apple Pie Egg Rolls, Churros, Deep Fried Oreos, and other comfort foods. Check out their website for more information, During our Not So Scary Kid Adventure during the day, there will be Concessions with soft drinks and snacks.


CAN WE BRING OUR OWN FOOD AND DRINKS?
No outdoor food or drinks are permitted. Please do not leave your trash in the parking lot


ARE THERE RESTROOMS AT THE ATTRACTIONS?
Yes, there are restrooms at Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse and Not So Scary Kids Adventure. The restrooms are located in the theatre lobby.


ARE PETS ALLOWED AT GATEWAY'S HAUNTED PLAYHOUSE?
No. Pets are not allowed on premises. They will not be permitted in the Midway, nor inside the Haunted Attraction.


IS IT REALLY SCARY???
Everyone has an individual fear threshold. Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse is designed to be scary. It is not designed for children. The Not So Scary Kids Adventure is great for younger children, as it provides a fun Halloween experience without the scares!


DO YOU HAVE A COVID-19 POLICY?
There is no vaccine requirement. Masks, while strongly recommended, are not required. Anyone attending our attractions and all our employees are asked to stay home if they feel sick.


WILL THE ACTORS BE WEARING PROTECTIVE FACE COVERINGS? Yes, some actors may have Protective Face Coverings built into their costumes.


CAN WE WEAR COSTUME FACE COVERINGS OR MAKEUP?  
No. Anyone coming in full-face costumes or makeup will be asked to remove it before being permitted to enter the attractions.


HOW LONG ARE THE EXPERIENCES?
Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse is approximately 35 minutes long. Not So Scary Kids Adventure is approximately 15 minutes long.


CAN WE BE THROWN OUT?
Yes. We do not allow mistreatment of persons or property, pushing, vulgar behavior, touching of actors, weapons of any kind, alcohol, etc. Your ticket is a revocable license. If our staff determines that any of these rules have been violated – you will be ejected from the haunt and no refund will be given.
