FAQs

What age is appropriate for the haunted house?

Due to the scary themes and graphic nature of our haunted house, we don’t recommend bringing anyone under the age of 12 to our haunted house. Anyone younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult. We offer a Not-So-Scary house on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4pm which is a great time for families!

Where are you located?

Our address is 215 South Country Road Bellport, New York 11713.

When are you open?

Our opening weekend is September 22 & 23 from 7pm to 11pm. We are then open September 29-October 1, October 6-8, 12-15, 18-22 & 25-29, October 31, and Nov 3 & 4. We are open 7pm to 10pm with extended hours on Friday and Saturday nights. Please check our calendar for the extended evening closing times.

Will I be touched in the haunted house?

No. No actor will try to touch you. Any touching that occurs would be accidental and due to dark conditions and small spaces or the people in your group trying to escape the terror.

Are you open in rain or snowy conditions?

Yes. We are open in all weather conditions, but be aware that this is an outdoor & indoor attraction. Please wear appropriate footwear/outerwear for these conditions. Umbrellas are not permitted inside the haunted house.

Can we take photos inside the haunted house?

Photography of any kind is not permitted inside the haunted house. We do encourage you to take photos before and after in our Midway.

Do you sell souvenirs?

We will be selling T-Shirts in our Concessions area. Monster Protection Amulets are also available for purchase.

Does your attraction have security?

All patrons will be asked to pass through metal detectors when they arrive. We have a full security staff on hand at all times who have undergone training to keep you safe (even when it feels a little scary). All security staff are in communication via radios and we have infrared cameras placed throughout so we can see you even when you can’t see us.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Due to the twists and turns and several sets of stairs, the walk-through itself is not handicap accessible. Everyone has access to our Midway area. The bathrooms are also handicap accessible.

Do the lines get really long?

For general admission tickets, you are given a number as you pass through our entrance. Instead of waiting on one giant line, we encourage you to enjoy our Midway area until your ticket number is called. Don’t want to wait at all? – a limited amount of Fast Pass tickets are available.

What is The Midway?

The Midway is the central hub of the haunt where you can eat, drink or take a ride in our Coffin attraction as well as shoot some zombies in our new Zombie Shooting Gallery. You also never know what ghastly creatures might appear to give you a little startle before you enter.

Can we bring our own food & drinks?

The consumption of outside food or drink is not permitted anywhere on our property. Feel free to visit our concessions booth on The Midway to purchase something to eat or drink.

Are there things to eat at Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse?

How do I avoid waiting in line? What is a Fast Pass?

A Fast Pass allows you to enter the haunted house with a significantly reduced wait time. Your Fast Pass gives you a thirty minute window in which you will be put in front of the line. We sell a limited number of fast passes every night, except preview weekend.

Do you offer group discounts?

We do not. Our best rate is online and in advance. GatewaysHauntedPlayhouse.com

Is there parking at Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse?

There is FREE parking on Gateway’s property. Please follow the instructions of our parking staff once you arrive.

Is there a place to put my bag and other personal belongings?

Bags, purses, backpacks, etc are not permitted past the security checkpoint. We advise that patrons leave their belongings in the car or at home. We do not have lockers and assume no responsibility for lost or damaged items being carried by patrons or left in vehicles. Additionally, make sure that your cell phone and personal items being carried on your person are safely tucked away and stored.

This seems too scary for my kid. Do you have an option for me and my family?

There are two options:

  1. Monster Protection Amulets are available for purchase in the Midway. Monster Protection Amulets are flashing LED necklaces that are worn throughout the haunt to signal actors not to target that individual. However, it is still possible to be frightened by the imagery and sounds inside the attraction. Emergency exits are posted throughout, in case you can’t make it to the end.
  2. Our Not-So-Scary Kids Adventure, on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4pm, is for children 10 and under. A cheerful guide accompanies groups through this well-lit tour and introduces fun characters along the way. Family-friendly tunes complete the atmosphere… there may even be a treat at the end! Come in costume and enjoy our mini hay maze, our pumpkin bouncy house and some fantastic face painting. Only $10 per person, all inclusive. Starting October 6th and ending October 29th.

Is there an ATM?

Yes. In the Lobby of our Haunt.

Can I get a refund if I decide I’m too scared to enter the haunted house or I don’t make it all the way through?

No, there are no refunds under any circumstances. Consider purchasing a Monster Protection Amulet before entering the haunt if you’re unsure of your reaction.
